TEXAS-In what some are calling "the win of the century," local rec officials have announced that going into the winter season, the dunking ban will be lifted for elementary school age teams. The decision is expected to revolutionize the game.
"We've been fighting for this for years. This is going to change everything," says Greg, whose son is in 2nd grade and stands 3 feet 9 inches tall. "The games are actually going to be exciting to watch now."
The dunking ban went into effect June of 1994, after a player dunked, hung from the rim and snapped it off from the backboard in one of the 3rd grade games.
The league will continue to not keep score so the children don't get their feelings hurt.
