MEADE, KS-After much thought, the local rec center has made the decision to stop keeping score of the kids basketball games. This decision, finalized by the board of directors last Friday, will go into effect for the upcoming season.
Locals are not surprised by the decision. "These younger rec leagues are just really, really bad." Lexy's son has been playing for two years and still can't make a layup. He's 7. "Doesn't really seem like they even want to be there. I wouldn't be surprised if they completely dissolve the league within the next few years."
League officials and referees have said the children are travelling constantly, don't know who they're guarding, and are just interested in the treats at the end. A professional has said, "It's an embarrassment to the game. It makes me worried for the future of this sport." Lebron has been playing most of his life, and currently plays in the NBA.
Rec game attendance is projected to decrease significantly because of the update. "I would much rather stay home and watch an NBA game. They're still keeping score of those." Lexy plans on having her son carpool to the rest of his rec seasons games so she doesn't have to go.
The league will continue to give trophies to all of the players because they're just kids.
